How To Care Your Hair

I love shiny hair and I definitely struggle with not having shiny hair. I have always struggled with dull hair since being a teenager, probably down to my thyroid condition.

I also haven’t used the right shampoos for my hair over the past few years, but when I finally found the key to shiny hair my life changed. My hair feels so much softer and looks incredibly shiner.

I have tried so many different shampoos and conditioners, and hair masks and nothing was working.

Let me share the tips and tricks that I have learned:

  • Use a clarifying shampoo once a week, they are designed to clear product build-up.
  • Wash your hair twice, I only ever use to wash my hair once and that was it. No, you need to wash your hair twice, first to get rid of build-up and dirt, and a second time to really wash your hair.
  • Rinse with cold water
  • Use a silk or satin pillowcase
  • Load up on healthy hair foods
  • Try not to use heavy conditioners

These tips are what have helped me, I also suffer from dandruff and dry scalp but also oily scalp, if that makes sense. I honestly have a love-hate relationship with my hair, I find it so hard to keep my hair looking shiny and clean.

I have been using an anti-dandruff shampoo and then using hairbrush shampoo and conditioner and have noticed a huge difference in my hair.

I saw something going viral on TIKTOK about not washing your hair every day. They were recommended to wash it once a week if you can if not twice a week. I definitely noticed when I tried this that it was a struggle at first but after your hair got used to it it actually worked!

I started washing my hair once a week and I noticed it was so much shiner and softer. I loved how it looked and have continued to keep to that schedule.

I also feel like some products can offer a shine to your hair, as well as add some waves/curls to your hair. I would also recommend washing your hairbrush every week otherwise you are adding old hair and oils/grease back into your hair.

The top tip to keep your hair shiny is to blow-dry your hair downwards as it locks in the shine and defrizzes your hair. You will notice a big difference from what I learned from my hairdresser.

I would also recommend washing your hair with a good clarifying shampoo twice and then using a hair mask, they add so much shine and make your hair feel and smell amazing!

Towel drying your hair can sometimes cause breakage but the best way is to let your hair completely air dry and then add some oil to the ends of your hair, trust me your hair will look so shiny!

I hope you enjoyed this post and it helps.
